Heidelberg Materials is seeking a Regional Quality Control Technical Manager to join our team in Redmond, WA. The position reports to the Vice President/General Manager, Pacific Northwest Materials. The role oversees the QC technical service operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective management of technical service resource.  The position works closely with the VP/GM and Area Managers to execute the Company’s strategic plan, promoting growth in revenue, providing exceptional customer service and products, all while delivering profitability.

What You'll Get to Do:

Safety:

·    Partner with Region Safety Department to implement the health and safety policies and ensure they are known throughout the operations.

·    Ensure training is in place to make the safety management program run as effectively as possible.

  • Provide resources to managers, supervisors, and workers to conduct safe and healthy work.
  • Review incident reports and respond where necessary.
  • Be visibly committed and support the development of an effective safety culture.


Operations:

  • Manage all technical aspects (incl. complaints/issues) within the regional concrete and quarry operations to ensure quality and consistency of concrete products.
  • Management and deployment of all staff and equipment, work within budgets to maximize profitability, provide exceptional products and customer service.
  • Drive responsibility and accountability within the business for the complaince of material produced.
  • Prepare/review mix designs to ensure the technical accuracy and commercial viability of all mix design submittals.

·    Ensure that optimal sampling, testing and quality control regime is developed and maintained, to effectively control risks and product quality while managing lab operating costs within budget.

·    Establish and monitor product testing regimes, observing performance criteria and standards, and monitor and report performance, specifically in relation to testing precision and accuracy.

·    Research and develop raw material products to enable cost reduction and substitute materials.

·    Establish and monitor product testing regimes.

·    Develop, monitor, and review inspection test plans (ITP’s)

·    Promote and provide concrete expertise within the professional environment.

·    Review and manage risk reports raised for the regional concrete and quarry operations.

  • Instill a quality mindset and customer service orientation into everyone associated with our products (incl. promotion of regular interactions with internal and external customers).

·    Review tenders for concrete and quarry products and services.

  • Coach and guide others in achieving the highest quality; includes providing process personnel with tools to monitor and improve quality.
  • Provide, develop, and educate employees on “value selling tools” and develop manuals/talking points for sales force to use in the marketplace. 
  • Stay abreast of changes and innovation in the industry as it relates to product quality, sustainability, and keep leaders and frontline employees apprised. 
  • Provide a competent technical support service to internal and external customers by assessing customer requirements, developing practical solutions, addressing product performance, and resolving customer concerns within agreed time constraints. Ensure the agreed technical objectives relating to service standards and product optimization are met.
  • Maintain an outstanding working relationship with customers and regulatory authorities.

Essential Experience and Skills: 

  • A post-secondary degree in a relevant discipline.  Master's or graduate degree a plus.
  • Held Technical/Quality Control role in Heavy Building Materials industry or in similar/relatable field (Materials Engineer)
  • Experience in mix designs and optimization techniques to enhance product quality and performance.

·    Professional accreditations in the ready‐mix concrete industry such as ACI or QCT credentials.

·    Working knowledge of ACI, ASTM, DOT and Regional standards and specifications.

  • Technical Knowledge – Heavy Building Materials (Concrete and Aggregates)
  • Strong leadership capabilities
  • High skill level in project and change management

·    Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective collaboration with various stakeholders.

  • Intermediate-level proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

·    Strong time management and critical thinking.

  • Proficient financial acumen skills a plus
  • Strong customer service and quality focus.

·    Have a valid WA or OR State Driver’s license with a clean and insurable driving record and be capable of maintaining a clean and insurable driving record.

·        $125,580 - $172,680 / year
