Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Assistant Plant Manager will assist the Plant Manager in the scheduling and planning of the quarry operations and activities to operate the plant and produce tonnage required. This role supervises, manages and directs the selection, training, development, appraisal, and work assignments of its own employees. This position inspects work in progress and ensures that it is performed to company standards. The role will work semi-independently while practicing absolute confidentiality. Good judgment and common sense is required in all duties and any other tasks as assigned. Normal work hours are 7am to 6pm, Monday through Friday, with weekend work as required. Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%) as required.

Required Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret document, in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in English.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization in English.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variable in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
  • Handles multiple projects simultaneously.

Required Experiences

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required. Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Mining, Civil Engineering, Geology, preferred. Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the aggregate industry required. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Current North Carolina Driver's License required
  • Ability to obtain first aid/CPR certification
